If you want to live in the big boys world, put on your big boy panties, and stop all your sniveling, whining, pissing and moaning when someone tells you that your craptastic work looks like shit !! You want in this trade, take the good with the bad, because by looking at the lack of skill you possess, your going to be hearing ALOT of the bad, believe me. When you post your shittastic tattoo scratches on a site like this, where people are free to make any comment they like, and where there are awesome artist's who have busted their balls to get to where they are at, your BOUND to hear from some of them, because they HAVE worked, and committed their entire life to bettering this trade, only to have some piece of shit like you guys come along, and tear it all down a block at a time, by butchering people in your fuckin kitchen, and getting the health department to stay up all of our asses, because your too damn stupid to at least take a blood born pathogen or cross contamination prevention course, and learn how to SAFELY set up, and break down a station !! Just so you know, bleach is NOT a safe alternative to an autoclave, NOR is boiling your twice used needles. Get a fuckin life, and leave this to the professionals. If it were easy, didnt take training and talent, everyone would be doing it !! As for sending me your empty threats, or leaving me your shitty lil notes on my page, FUCK YOU!! Write me in a private message, and ask for my fucking address, you bunch of pussy's, and i'll damn sure send it to you. Be careful when you come though, because when you fuck with me, i fuck back, and i WILL be playing for keep's !!

Going back to finger breaking is better than internet bitching.

Inked Nation always had a few guys on the crusade as well, but I doubt it will ever change anything. Every single one of these scratches is a class-one loser with No talent, NO intellect and NO real job prospects.

They are sure this is the one thing they will be good at if they just could figure out "X".

That said. I hate hacks worse than scratchers. A guy with a shop and a license and shit for ability is WAY worse for our industry as a whole.

    word.
had a guy come in today looking to buy ink and needles. he jsut got outta jail where he learned to tattoo but now he's using a gun and blah blah blah do we have an open chair for him to work? sorry man but it's a machine not a gun and that is basic tattoo knowledge, if you don't even know that you ain't getting a job. didn't phase him though and he said he'd be back with his portfolio.
this guy with absolutely no knowledge of what he's doing WILL find a job in a shop. not anywhere i would work but there are 80 shops in Austin. he'll be fucking shit up and be able to justify it because he is not doing it at home.

A scab is a scab, be it in a shop, or their kitchen !! I know alot of VERY talented artist's who dont ( and wont ) work in a shop, but they have built an awesome studio in their home. The place they work has it's own water supply, drainage system, and doesnt have a kitchen table anywhere in sight, has a autoclave with spore test records for all to see, and these guys KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING !!! There is a HUGE difference in knowing whats up, and guessing, and i'm sorry, but if you havent been properly trained your not going to be doing it the way it should be. I know, i know, there are some people who have never been taught shit about this trade, but i'm willing to bet they will tell you, it wasnt an easy road to get to where they are, and if they could go back and change one thing, they would have learned from a professional, and saved all the time, blood, sweat, and tears that come with learning on your own

I think the sad part is that a lot of the unprofessional tattoo artists aka scratchers have good intentions and often some artistic ability, they just don't know what they don't know.
I think the actual sketching and inking are only part of the process, the prep, the cleanliness and aftercare seem to be missing and this becomes dangerous for the customers.
It's too bad there isn't more of a formal education. The apprenticeships seem to be the best way to go, but they probably aren't consistent and they can create a burden on the shops willing to take them on.
I think you should be licensed to become a tattoo artist, not based on the art, but based on the procedures of cleanliness, prep and overall protection for the artist ans the client. Just my 2 cents.

Nothing worse than a scratcher I am horrified on a daily basis at the shitty horrible work I see. I have alot of talented tattoo artist friends they put in their time with an apprenticeship. Scratchers are a huge sore spot for them makes everyone in the profession look bad. Holy shit I cannot believe people boil their needles just shows how stupid people are.

Funny thing. I had a bar owner tell me he had a couple guys wanting to do a tattoo party at the bar coming up this month. He asked my advise. I told him that was just horrific. To think these guys are gonna tattoo using half the dance floor. Then the customer is gonna be out there grinding there fresh tattoo on someone else. Cuz you know there not gonna keep it covered. Not to add the countless other possibilities of cross contamination.

what are you trying to prove scratcher? You dont have any work on your page, just a picture out of a sketch book....why dont you just go tattoo and not get your pantys in a wad over what other people think if you are so "great"....obviously your the exception to the rule....

When any artist runs into a scratcher....Play on with them and ask to check out their set up. When they fall for the bait beat them over the head with a baseball bat and smash the shit out of their equipment.
